Behind The Scenes

Balancing a Hyrox training routine with a travel-packed work schedule requires strategic planning and adaptability. Here are some practical tips for keeping fit on the road:

Pack Smart:

Prioritise lightweight and compact fitness gear suitable for on-the-go workouts. Resistance bands, a skipping rope, and compact running shoes can easily fit into your luggage without adding much weight.

HIIT in Hotel Rooms:

Embrace High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) sessions that require minimal space. Create a circuit of bodyweight exercises like burpees, lunges, and push-ups that can be done in the comfort of your hotel room.

Explore Local Terrain:

Turn your destination into a training ground. Check out local parks, trails, or outdoor spaces for running, and incorporate elements of the local environment into your workouts.

Utilise Hotel Facilities:

Many hotels have gyms with basic equipment. Take advantage of these facilities for more structured workouts. If the hotel lacks a gym, inquire about nearby partner facilities or day-pass options.

Hyrox-Specific Drills:

Tailor your training to mimic Hyrox elements. Incorporate exercises such as sled pushes (using luggage or hotel carts), box jumps (using sturdy furniture), and functional movements to simulate race components.

Stay Consistent with Scheduling:

Plan your workouts in advance by scheduling them into your itinerary. Treating them as non-negotiable appointments helps maintain consistency amidst busy travel days.

Hydration and Recovery:

Hydrate adequately, especially during travel, and prioritise recovery. Incorporate stretching and mobility exercises into your routine to mitigate the physical demands of both travel and intense workouts. Adapting your training routine to your travel schedule is all about creativity and consistency. By incorporating these practical tips, you can conquer the challenges of maintaining a fitness routine while jet-setting around the globe. Safe travels and strong workouts!
